Winners Of Museum Drawing For Dixie Chopper Prizes Announced
The Putnam County Museum has announced the open house prize winners from its Dixie Chopper Weekend of April 16-17.
In celebration of the company’s 30th anniversary in 2010, both the Dixie Chopper Jet Mower and Dixie Chopper Bike were on display during April at the museum on Greencastle’s north side.
Grand prize winner of a 1/10th scale model of the Dixie Chopper motorcycle, built by Orange County Choppers on the “American Chopper” TV program in 2004, was Jim Ritter of Greencastle.
Winning 1/18th scale versions of the Dixie Chopper Jet Mower, which featured a 150-horsepower Chinook helicopter engine and was included in a 1993 episode of “Home Improvement” with comedian Tim Allen, were two out-of-town visitors and five local residents.
Winning Jet Mower models were: Lucille Nemeth, Eaton Rapids, Mich.; Pam Nemeth, Danville; and Anita Urban, Barbara Bates, Mary Hirt, Monica Sanfert and Dorlis Deaton, all of Putnam County.
The Dixie Bike and Jet Mower were featured during April as Dixie Chopper was honored as part of the museum’s Putnam County Commerce series. April 15 marked the 30th anniversary of Dixie Chopper founder Art Evans’ completion of his first zero-turn lawn mower.
