Outdoor Channel Stars Add Camo Mower To Their Arsenal

Tiffany Lakosky has brought down bears, bucks, moose and caribou with but a bow and arrow.

But she couldn't even begin to camouflage her excitement with the latest prize in her sights.

Co-star of The Outdoor Channel reality series "The Crush" (previously titled "Gettin' Close With Lee and Tiffany"), she had just taken delivery of a new Dixie Chopper Realtree Camo Mower at the couple's Salem, Iowa, home on March 4.

Despite the ground being wet and the grass brown, Tiffany couldn't resist taking the Dixie Chopper for a quick spin.

"I'm so-o-o excited," she said. "It's definitely nicer than my vehicle. I think I'm going to drive it to town."

Wait a minute, don't TV celebrities have limos to haul them around?

"Oh, yeah," Tiffany laughed. "A limo on my five-mile dirt road. That's a laugh! We're just a couple rednecks out here in Iowa, we don't have any limos."

But they do have the "World's Fastest Lawn Mower," courtesy a new agreement arranged by Dixie Chopper Media Marketing Manager Rick Judy at the recent National Wild Turkey Federation show in Nashville. You can expect to see the mower occasionally on the Lakoskys' Outdoor Channel series, now in its fifth season and often the No. 1-rated outdoor show on TV.

"It will probably be on our show quite often," Tiffany said, pointing out that "The Crush" is an outdoor reality program where virtually everything the Lakoskys normally do on their 800-acre property is documented for TV viewing consumption.

"Mowing is my job," she assured. "I enjoy it, but we're home so little that I feel like I just mow constantly. It's like all I do."

Her mowing time should be cut in half now since the old lawn tractor is being replaced by a zero-turn Dixie Chopper.

"I had never been on a zero-turn mower before," she said, "but it was really easy to drive. Before I knew it, I was rolling all around on it!"

Tiffany said she mows about three or four acres at the Lakosky residence, along with lawns at their office, their cabin and her mother's house.

"It's like a running joke on our show that I do all the mowing," she said. "And at the conferences we go to, one of the things people always ask is, 'Does Tiffany really do all the lawn mowing?' And Lee always says, 'Yes, she does.'"

In between lawn chores, the Lakoskys tape hunting excursions not only on their properties in Iowa and Kansas but also on some of the most fertile hunting grounds around. It has become an amazing adventure for a young couple from Minnesota who started their careers as a flight attendant and a chemical engineer.

"This is nothing we ever set out to do," Tiffany assured. "But we love it and we go at it full bore. It's basically non-stop chaos."

That chaos continued at the recent NWTF show, where Lee and Tiffany were featured in the Realtree booth. They were just swamped with visitors, she said, and never got to leave the booth to check out the show for themselves.

"At the end of the show, everything was closed down and we had a little chance to look around and started talking to Michael Waddell (of Realtree), who is a dear friend of ours. Michael was there talking to Rick Judy, and I remember Rick asking if we ever thought we might use a mower in the show.? "I said, 'Are you kidding me, that's all I do is freaking mow!' And before you knew it, there was a Dixie Chopper mower at my house. And it's camouflage, too, which is another nice touch. I'm sure we're going to get a lot of comments about it."

Tiffany is already seeing to that. She has posted a photo of herself aboard the Dixie Chopper on her Facebook account. And she's even shared her good fortune with a fellow celebrity.

"Gary LeVox, the lead singer of Rascal Flatts, is a good friend of ours. I texted him and told him he has to 'come drive our new mower.'"

And she's certain that will happen this spring or summer.

"We went bowfishing with him last year, and we made a bet about who would shoot the first fish. The loser had to do yard work at the other person's house," Tiffany said. "Well, I shot the first fish, so he lost the bet and has to come here (eastern Iowa) and do some of my yard work. I'm sure he's a little bit happier about having to come here now that I have this mower."

A new episode of "The Crush" with Lee and Tiffany is set to air Friday (5 p.m. Eastern time, Sunday (7:30 Eastern) and Monday (1:30 a.m.) on The Outdoor Channel.

It will be a little too soon to spot the Dixie Chopper in that episode, but it won't be long, Tiffany insists.

"I'm so excited about it. We really appreciate the opportunity to showcase your product."
